The path to leading a room
Anyone can start with Ally. Leading a room is different: you'll be looking after other people at some of the hardest moments of their week. That's why you can't skip ahead. You get there by showing up, and by knowing yourself a little better on the way.
The path
- Spend time with Ally. Talk with her on at least 10 different days. The point isn't the number. It's learning to put your own thoughts into words.
- Be part of a room first. Join a room, take part at least once, and give it at least a week from the day you joined. Leaders who have been members know what it feels like to be new.
- Be steady. Your account should be at least 14 days old, and you can't have been removed from a room.
- Get invited. When you've done the first steps, Ally invites you. You don't have to ask.
- Choose a plan and verify. Leading comes with a Plus or Pro plan and a quick ID check. We take no cut and charge no per-member fees.
These numbers are today's, and may change as we learn.
Questions to ask yourself along the way
Nobody checks these. They're for you. When you open a room you'll be asked what it's for, what you hope people get from it, and the lines you won't let anyone cross, so it helps to have thought about them first.
- Why do I want to lead? What did I need when I was new somewhere?
- What will I do when someone is cruel, or when someone I like breaks the rules?
- What are the lines I won't let anyone cross, even if it costs me a member?
- Can I hold a room without needing the room to hold me?
- Who looks after me while I look after others?
You don't need to be an expert, a counselor, or a professional. You just need to be someone who's been there, and who's willing to do the work of being steady for others.
For adults 18 and over. No card needed to start.
